Obesity is widespread these days all over the world and people are desperately trying to find out ways and means of losing weight effectively and quickly. It could be due to health reasons like diabetes, hypertension, etc that almost always accompanies obesity or it could even be due to a desire to possess a faultless body in healthy condition. Whatever the reason, the search for a perfect weight loss plan is always on.

When it comes to searching for a perfect weight loss plan, the internet is the first option. A search in Google can get you hundreds of weight loss plans that guarantee success in a prescribed time. Most of them require you to part with your hard earned money and the free advices that are also available in plenty does little to pass on required information. Moreover, the huge number of sites that cater to this specific purpose makes one really overwhelmed and confused too. How can you find out a plan which suits you and really makes you shed off your excess fat? How do you recognize scam sites and avoid being duped? There seem to be diet plans right from water diets to cabbage soup diet. What exactly do you choose?

Well, be sensible and look at it practically. If you desire to lose weight either for health or beauty reasons, you need to make sure that you stick on to two main things:

Alter your eating habits.

Exercise regularly and consistently.

Faulty eating habits are almost always the culprit in the rising levels of obesity. Right from childhood, we tend to cultivate wrong eating habits which end up as excess fat stored in our bodies. First of all, you need to assess the sort of food that you are eating. Does it contain too much processed items filled with unwanted calories? Are you hooked up on fries and soda? Are you heavily into sweet, creamy coffee and doughnuts? Are chocolates and cookies your weakness? Be true to yourself and write down a sensible weight loss diet plan which you will stick on to. Include more of wholegrain products, fruits and vegetables. Cut down on excess salt and sugar and go easy on junk food.

It would also be great to identify if you are eating simply out of boredom or tiredness or emotional disturbances, instead of having food when just plain hungry. If so, get it corrected and eat at proper times only. If required, rope in the help of a counselor or psychologist who will guide you accordingly.

A perfect weight loss plan is incomplete without proper exercises and it is imperative that you sweat out all those calories you consume, to reach your ideal weight. The best way to start would be to include brisk walks in your daily regimen along with guided exercises in your local gym. Yoga is an excellent way to enrich both your physical and mental health and can get you into shape in no time.

A problem all over the world, especially in developed nations, obesity is regarded as a sort of silent epidemic which results in a whole lot of health issues. Similarly, a large number of people suffer from diabetes, which is also considered somewhat to be a compulsive killer. Combine both and you have a deadly malady in hand! Yes. It is true. Although all obese people needn’t contract diabetes and nor is it a must that all diabetic people turn out to be obese, people who are overweight are at a bigger risk of contracting diabetes, especially the type-2 variety.

So, let us find out how exactly these two dreaded lifestyle diseases are related. Obesity or a condition of surplus body weight essentially involves having excess body fat and increases the risk of acquiring type-2 diabetes, which affects the body’s insulin managing capacity. Basically, being obese increases the risk of contracting type-2 diabetes because the more weight we put on, the more our body becomes resistant to the insulin that is produced naturally. When the body loses weight, it becomes more capable to manage the insulin produced and start functioning in a better manner. This truly points out to the fact that a fatal link exists between obesity and diabetes.

Many doctors these days recommend their obese patients to cut down on body weight so as to minimize their risk of contracting type -2 diabetes and other illnesses that are associated with obesity like heart disease, hypertension, etc. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute has recommended weight loss as a measure to lower elevated blood glucose levels in obese patients with type-2 diabetes. Based on various clinical tests and other procedures, this report clearly states a connection between a decrease in abdominal fat and improved glucose tolerance in overweight people.

Relevant studies have also proved the fact that not only does losing weight result in preventing obese people scale the heights of diabetes, but it also reverses any damage caused to the insulin producing cells in the body. Therefore, treatment for diabetes becomes challenging in that the root cause of the disease, that is obesity, needs to be targeted first.

Obesity can be best treated through proper diet and exercise. Other than genetic causes, one often finds that right from childhood the person has been on an improper diet and in combination with negative physical activity, the overweight person gradually moves on to a point of high obesity. This needs to be looked into initially where the patient has to strictly monitor what he eats. Avoiding processed and fried foods totally and cutting down on artificial sugar can help to a certain extent. Eat a balanced diet filled with the goodness of wholegrain, fruits, and vegetables as per your dietician’s or doctor’s advice.

Diet alone is not enough to combat obesity and the various problems that come with it. You need a suitable exercise plan too which should be done regularly and consistently. It is best that you get the advice from a concerned professional in this regard and sort out your ‘weighty issues’ at the earliest.

Obesity has become a potential health hazard for people all over the world and what is alarming is that children too have joined this dangerous trend. Childhood obesity is considered to be more of an epidemic in various parts of the world, and brings along with it a variety of other diseases ranging from hypertension to type II diabetes, not to mention psychological problems as well.
Awareness, in this regard, is to be first created among parents. Most parents are of the opinion that a fat child is a healthy one too. They close their eyes to the double chin and protruding tummy of the child and consider it mere ‘puppy fat’. Ultimately, this reaches a stage where the child starts developing health issues, and only then do parents react.
What are the reasons which contribute to the unhealthy weight gain in children? It is seen that faulty dietary habits which start early in life are responsible to a large extent in this unhealthy trend. Children grow up on processed food stuffs which are high in salt, fat, sugar, etc often emulating their parents who are the actual culprits in this matter. Irregular eating habits like snacking frequently and eating more than what is required also contribute to this dangerous trend.
Lack of physical activity is also a reason for the growing rates of childhood obesity. Children are more interested in sitting in front of the television or computer rather than sweating it out in the playground. There is no strenuous activity in their life to burn off extra calories and this also causes the child to become fat and unhealthy. Inactivity is most certainly a lifestyle issue which causes a whole lot of trouble.
Obesity is also caused due to emotional disturbances in the child. Adverse situations at home, school, etc may upset the child to a great extent. Not being able to handle such negative emotions, such children sometimes find comfort in food, a trend which leads to obesity. Genetic factors are also responsible for obesity in children to a certain extent. But these can be effectively controlled to a large extent by proper dietary and lifestyle changes.
Childhood obesity can be brought under control by taking timely help and advice from professionals in this field. But the most important way of combating this malady would be to correct and control the child’s eating habits and encourage the child to get involved in physical activities.
Restrict or limit the child’s intake of processed foods that impart negative calories and instead, encourage the child to eat more of natural food stuffs with limited fat content. Fruits, vegetables, wholegrain, and various other healthy options should be introduced into the child’s diet so as to get the benefit of proper nutrients. The child should also be encouraged to play outdoor games so that he remains fit physically too.
Childhood obesity is certainly a social problem these days, but with the right guidance, our youngsters can grow up to be healthy adults who will not be ashamed of their bodies.

Have you ever had one of those days where everything just seemed to go right?

Ever have one of those workouts where everything seemed to just “click” on all cylinders and all of your lifts and all of your exercises were great?…

A day where you just felt an extreme energy coursing through your body as you go from one exercise to the next, ready to kick it up an even “higher notch.”

Let me ask you, are these workouts few and far between for you?

Do you wish you could have an awesome workout every single time you wrap your hands around the steel bar or step up onto the Treadmill?

Well, you can.

What’s the alternative, betting that you can’t?

Every single time you step foot into a gym to lift, run, and sweat, you must approach that workout like it’s the very last one you’ll ever do.

Truth be told, you never really know if it will be, but without sounding too morbid, that’s the mindset you must have.

You must condition yourself to hit a “high peak” each and every time you walk into a gym. Soon, a series of these “high peaks” ultimately must lead to nowhere BUT success.

I just gave you the key as to what it takes to have a killer workout each and every time you step into the gym.

Your mindset.

It’s as simple as this….

Before you can create anything, you have to think it.

Before you have, do, get, build…anything… you have to think what it is you’re trying to achieve.

What are you ultimately after?

Architects do not start building houses until they’ve thought of every last little detail.

Then they just construct what they thought about.

Approach your workouts and your body the very same way.

You cannot and should not just walk into the gym without thinking of what you want to accomplish and just start exercising with no direction.

Before even stepping into the gym, know what you’re after.

If not, you’re spinning your wheels.

So what does that have to do with getting into the “Zone” and having a killer workout every single time?

When you are focusing like a laser beam on those things that you KNOW will lead you to results, you start to become more motivated, more driven. You know success is right around the corner, waiting to meet you halfway.

You feel like you are in that “Zone” which is going to lead you to what you want.

And it all starts with thinking about what you want.

More muscle, more strength, less body fat…

Keep these thoughts embedded in your mind.

And then begin to do only those thing that will bring about those things you want to achieve.

If you know exactly what you want and know the exact steps to get it, how can you NOT have awesome workouts each and every time?

I mean, imagine yourself in the gym, right now, doing only those things that you KNOW are going to boost muscle and strength for you.

Wouldn’t you feel more pumped knowing that the stuff you are doing is going to lead you to where you want to be?

That’s exactly how you can have awesome workouts every single time you step into the gym….it comes from realizing that you are well on your way to getting what you want.

And that the only thing stopping you is you.

So the next time you step into the gym, approach it with an attitude that says “There is no possible way I can fail.”

If I go in there, do every single thing I know I have to do and do it well, success is guaranteed 100% of the time.

What’s the alternative, dreading going to the gym and when there, wishing you were somewhere else, speeding through your workouts just to get it done.

Every time you go to workout, make it the single best workout you’ve ever had.

I can PROMISE you, if you do this, not only will you have great workouts every time, but you’ll also guarantee yourself fat loss, strength increase, muscle toning, or any other goal you want.

Natural weight loss is a big topic today for numerous people who do not comprehend the principle of eating only the quantity they need for the amount physical activity they perform; but how many people receive notice of this.

The ability to burn fat is based on one’s metabolism levels and these levels can slow down when the body eats certain foods and avoids exercise. The ideal way to burn fat is to eat healthily and maintain plenty of exercise but a lot of people are so impatient or wish to lose weight for an upcoming special occasion that they don’t even try the right way to burn fat but instead automatically turn to the quick fixes such as fat burner pills and supplements…

Burn Fat Naturally

The key is to burn fat naturally and healthily and still maintain long-term results. Too many people try to use unhealthy methods in order to burn fat and this can cause health problems and more serious weight problems in the long-term. Exercise and using the muscles is the optimal way to burn fat but the muscles must be exercised frequently or else they become weak and build up fat yet again. While alcohol and high calorie foods add to the amount of weight gained, they can also lead to the body becoming sluggish and lower the ability to burn fat. Cutting out alcohol and fatty foods while keeping the body hydrated with lots of water is another way to burn fat.

Metabolism

The body’s metabolism basically goes into shutdown mode when you become inactive. The metabolism must reach a certain speed in order to burn fat. The fact is that it is not diffcult to increase your metabolism and incurage yourbody to burn more fat as fuel. It can sometimes be necessary to kick start the metabolism and one of the best ways is to perform a small amount of exercise in the mornings and also eat breakfast.

Healthy Foods

Fresh and healthy foods can give the energy needed to burn fat through exercise as well as making the body feel better and more energetic in the long run. As you incorporate more green foods into your diet you will become more alkaline — displacing needless acid — and improving your fat loss efforts. Minimize and avoid processed foods, artificial sweeteners, and nutrition-deficient drinks like coffee and sodas. In a nutshell, by eating the foods that make your body expend more energy burning them, you are raising your metabolic rate.

Workout

One of the best ways to burn fat is to build muscle mass through constant workouts. That’s why, for many people who want to burn fat, build-muscle workout are the ideal approach. There are several venues where you can find the ideal burn-fat, build muscle workout for you. The more strenuous your burn-fat build-muscle workout, the more protein you need. Here’s a key tip to remember: the more muscles you get involved in your workout, the more fat you’ll burn off. A sufficient amount of exercise on a daily or weekly basis coinciding with a healthy diet can be seriously effective when trying to burn fat.

I’m sure you have pondered this question, for it is no secret that we all tend to put on a few pounds during this magical time of year! For many of us across the globe it is a tradition to ring in the New Year with our belts loosened and seams bursting. Read on for 5 reasons why it is so easy to gain weight during the month of December, and what you can do to avoid them!…

REASON #1: Have Yourself a Merry Little Eggnog What tastes better on a cold December day than a mug of Hot Cocoa, Spiced Apple Cider, or Rich Eggnog? The holidays are filled with occasions for us to congregate and indulge in calorie packed beverages. An average glass of Eggnog packs over 340 calories and close to 20 grams of fat! Drinking just 10 glasses of Eggnog during the month of December will result in a 1 lb weight gain! This year steer clear of the calorie filled beverages and stick to drinking water. REASON #2: Deck The Halls with Boughs of Finger Food You can see it now, the appetizer table at your Holiday Party! Mountains of fried finger foods, plates filled with rich cheeses, colorful deviled eggs, and best of all, the selection of gourmet sausage. Mingling with friends turns to circling the finger foods, grazing like it is your last meal. This year take a plate and fill it once. No seconds, thirds, fourths…you get the idea. REASON #3: Here Comes Santa Claus – And He’s Bringing Cookies People love to give gifts around the holidays and many of these gifts are edible! Who doesn’t enjoy receiving homemade fudge or fruitcake from their Aunt Gertrude? The problem lies in our attempt to eat ALL of the edible holiday offerings before it is time to take down the tree. Enjoy edible gifts in moderation, and don’t overeat simply because the food is available. REASON #4: All I Want for Christmas is My Sweet Tooth Gingerbread cookies, spiced cakes, and truffles are all abundant during the month of December. Far too abundant! Limit your sweet tooth to a couple sugar selections each week and save yourself from the extra, empty calories! REASON #5: Away in a Manger, No Time for the Gym Shopping, wrapping, baking, gatherings…and you want me to go to the gym? The holidays are the easiest time to put off working out. Sweating in the gym almost seems masochistic when your other option is to be curled up in front of the Christmas tree with a plate of cookies in your lap! This year factor your workouts into your schedule and stick to it. Make sure that at minimum you are still getting a cardiovascular workout in 3 times a week. Take time to integrate these tips into your busy December schedule, and I am sure that you will be thanking yourself come the New Year! I wish you all Happy Holidays! Diana Keuilian, author, ACE certified Personal Trainer, and co-founder of HitechTrainer.com offers online personal training and nutrition programs that fit your budget and schedule.
Reducing weight also helps you to prevent the onset of diabetes. However it is only the second type diabetes which can be controlled by staying fit with a healthy diet and maintaining optimum sugar levels. None the less prevention is better than cure.

The risk of cancer is worrying and distressing majority of people especially overweight people, since studies reveal that they are more prone to cancer than people having normal weight. It is therefore essential to maintain normal body weight and reduce the amount of cholesterol content in the body, to minimize the chances of cancer.

Losing weight helps you avoid conditions like sleep apnea, a state where a person temporarily stops breathing. He continues to snore after that. It causes you to be drowsy and sleepy all day long. This has some serious consequences like heart failure. The pain caused by osteoarthritis can be reduced greatly if your weight is optimum, otherwise the pain might cause you to have headaches. Decreasing your overall weight takes some pressure of your joints and knees which might get heavily strained if you are overweight. If your knees and joints are pressurized then you are more prone to weakness in the joints and arthritis.

The fastest remedies for many lower back problems are that you reduce your weight as soon as possible. Now that your back has to handle less weight it will take up much strain off your lower spine. The same happens when you strengthen the abdominal muscles. When you have good abdominals you will automatically have a straight posture taking strain off your back again.

Recent surveys prove that running and exercising on a regular basis lessen your stress levels and also can facilitate you to deal with difficulty a better way. Also a healthy diet filled with nutrition from all the food groups is very beneficial. This amplifies your work efficiency to assist you in earning even more money and confidence in general. It will help you to lead a healthy long life.

Do you struggle with weight loss? Some days, you feel gung-ho. You’re ready to eat salad and chicken all day long, forsaking desserts for good. Other days, you feel completely hopeless. You think, "why bother?" as you reach to open a bag of cookies.

When fighting a war against unhealthy habits, you will win and lose some battles. The key is keeping in touch with the "why" behind your weight loss so you can win over the long haul. Why do you want to lose your pregnancy pounds? To be attractive? Healthier? For your husband or your kids’ sake? When you’re in touch with your values, the decisions become clear. You’re driven by something higher than your taste buds.

Sometimes you have to consider what you don’t want to realize what you do want:..

1. Don’t become a statistic. The proportion of Americans who are overweight or obese has been rising for the past 25 years. Don’t be part of the nearly two-thirds of women in the United States who are overweight, or the one-third who are obese. Being part of this crowd means you’re high risk for heart disease, cancer, diabetes and other major health problems. And the most sobering thing is that your children will follow you.

2. Don’t be a victim. Maybe you come from a family that has struggled with being overweight for generations. Or you find yourself depressed and unable to make wise decisions. Don’t give in to the victim mentality. You can do something positive to turn your situation around. You are not stuck with a particular destiny unless you surrender your will.

3. Don’t wait for a feeling. Most days, you won’t "feel" motivated. Sustainable motivation doesn’t begin with a feeling. It begins with a decision you make with your mind.

4. Chances are you don’t want to be a statistic, a victim or a procrastinator. Now is the time to make some decisions that will change the course of your life and your children’s. When you need motivation, just look at your precious baby. What kind of health do you want for him or her? Let healthy eating and exercise begin with you!

You Have Been Programmed to be Overweight.
Throughout the day you are having many conversations with yourself. I’m talking about the internal self talk that in most people never stops. Some of this talk is harmless such as “I need to get some milk today” Some of this internal chatter is positive, such as “I’m going to do great today.” But much of your internal dialog is filled with self-criticism. We say things like; “You look fat in that shirt”, “Why can’t I lose weight”. You might not be aware of it but the self-talk and degree of emotion behind the self-talk concerning your weight and your body actually influences and creates your body….

I’m sure some of you have had the experience where you thought yourself sick or well. You might have been around someone who was sick and you might have said to yourself something like “I know I’m going to get sick now” Perhaps some of you have just the opposite experience. You might have felt something coming on and you might have said something like; “I’m not going to allow myself to get sick” only to shake off the illness.

How does this happen? All of our self-talk, every feeling we experience, every thought we have, is sending messages to our cells. Our cells are receiving all of it and the more we repeat a given thought or the more emotional the thought the more effect it has over our cells.

The more positive your attitude concerning your health, the less likely you are to become ill. This is the reason that if you are ill, a positive attitude plays a critical roll in your ability to get well.

“You may not think that you can talk to your DNA, but in fact you do continually. Thinking happens at the level of DNA, because without the brain sending out a neuron-peptide or other messengers, there can be no thought. Everything in life pours out of DNA, flesh, bones, blood, heart and nervous system; a babies first word and a toddlers first step; the maturing of reason in the babies cortex; the play of emotions, thoughts, and desires that flicker like summer lighting through every cell.” -Dr. Deepak Chopra

The thoughts and emotions you are constantly communicating to your cells. Your cells act on that communication. Your cells manifest what you are communicating to them. So what are some of the things you are communicating to your cells? Do any of these sound familiar? -“I am so fat” -“If I see food I gain 20 pounds” -“It doesn’t matter what I do, I can’t lose weight” -” I’ll never be thin”

Every thought you have, every emotion you feel creates string of chemical events within your body. There chemical events communicate to your cells how they are to respond. Your cells respond to your every thought without exception. I’m sure you know somebody who can eat whatever they want and never gain an ounce. This is explained away by saying that they have a fast metabolism. But have you ever wondered how they developed a fast metabolism and you didn’t? What do you think their internal belief system is? What do you think they say to themselves concerning their body and weight?

So what should you do about it? Begin by monitoring your thoughts. Recognize all the negative thoughts you have throughout the day and begin to turn them around by repeating an affirmation to replace the negative thought. For example if you say to yourself; -“I am fat” replace it with “I choose to feel lighter and healthier.” “If I see food I gain 20 pounds” replace it with “I choose to believe that I can be around food and lose weight at the same time.”

Your new self-talk must be stated positively. Don’t say things like “I don’t want to be fat anymore” or “I wish I could stop overeating.” These kinds of statements only reinforce the idea that you are fat and out of control. You should formulate your thoughts so that you are always expressing the most positive essence of what you’re striving for

It’s more then just saying the words or thinking the thoughts. The thoughts and words need to be accompanied by positive feelings. You need to believe the positive thoughts and feel positive when you are thinking or saying them. Sometimes this is difficult to do but with a little tweaking of the words you can create a thought that you can believe. For example you might have trouble believing a statement like; “I can lose all the weight I want.” But with a little tweaking you can create a statement that is believable such as; “I choose to believe that I can find a way to lose all the weight I desire. Your thoughts and emotions are the programs that create who you are and who you are going to become. By repeating negative thoughts over and over again you have been programming your cells to respond in such a way that created your current body. Practice positive programming and create the body you desire.

If you are overweight or obese, don’t be afraid to ask your parents for help. I know that you may think they are too busy, don’t think it is a problem, or will just tell you to "eat less and get up and move instead of sitting around all the time". It isn’t quite that simple.

Please let your parents know how you feel. They love you and want what is best for you. They want you to be happy. They may not have any idea how your weight is affecting your life. I’m sure if you are open and honest with them, they will want to help you…

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT put yourself on a diet. A restrictive diet is not the answer, because even if you lose a lot of weight, you will probably gain it back, plus some, when the diet is over. If you want to lose weight to have more confidence, attract a boyfriend/girlfriend, get the other kids to stop teasing and bullying you, etc., you must change your lifestyle. That may mean doing some things you don’t do today.

Good nutrition is the first key to healthy weight loss. If you don’t like vegetables, eat them anyway. As you become used to them, you will learn to like most of them (I promise!). Fruits and vegetables not only contain vitamins and minerals to make you look and feel better, but they contain fiber, which will make you feel fuller. Just take a few bites of everything, and go easy on the white bread and anything made with sugar. I know you love pizza, but it is high in calories, so order it with thin crust, veggies, and NO extra cheese. Limit your pizza to once or twice a week, and eat a salad first.

Skip the sodas and drink water or low-fat milk instead. You really need the calcium in milk and dairy products, so try for 3 servings a day of low-fat milk, cottage cheese, cheese or yogurt. Just ONE regular size soda a day can make you gain 10 pounds in a year. I don’t even want to think about how many pounds the extra-large sodas might cause you to gain!

Skip the French fries, and have a salad instead. French fries really shouldn’t count as a vegetable since they are almost all starch. Have a baked potato instead, and go easy on the butter and sour cream.

Turn off the TV and computer, and go to bed earlier! Studies have proven that there is a direct connection between obesity and not getting enough sleep. As a preteen or teenager, you need 9 or more hours of sleep each night.

Do something each day for exercise. Get a pedometer so that you can record the number of steps you take each day, and try to reach 10,000 a day. Offer to run errands for your parents, run the vacuum, walk the dog, or whatever chores will involve movement. Ride your bike, work out to an exercise video, or join the YMCA or Boys’ & Girls’ club so you can swim, shoot hoops, or work out on the exercise equipment.

Ask your mom or dad for a few minutes of their time to have a private talk with you, and then share your feelings and goals concerning your weight. Ask for their help. If they are overweight also, ask if the whole family can lose weight and get healthier together. Your talk may be all they need to get started. Do it today!!
